Fine & Country Inns Partner Up
With Greene King on Barlborough Venture

November 2020

At Fine and Country Inns, we understand and appreciate the importance of a quality village pib, for the community to be able to gather, celebrate and enjoy the company of their neighbours.

Following the closure of The Rose & Crown, the local residents of Barlborough were eagerly anticipating the return of a high quality food venue in the area.

The original features and the historic intricate details of the pub appealed to the team at Fine and Country Inns immediately, who were able to envision the great potential the venue had to offer. But first things first? The orange paint and the bold carpets had to go!

Whilst the other venues throughout the award-winning hospitality group Fine and Country Inns were finding their feet in a post-lockdown world, welcoming hundreds of guests through the Government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme, Ben and the team were busy developing The Rose & Crown into the stunning establishment it is today.

Incorporating the "contemporary - heritage" feel of many of the other venues within the estate, the venue is now unrecognisable, apart from those key features such as the brick wallings and archways.

At the time of the refurbishment, the nation had been split into it's Tier System, with Chesterfield and Derbyshire unfortunately being in the most restrictive of them all. With this in mind, the venue was unfortunately unable to open it's doors to the patient customers pre-Christmas, as hoped.

Despite not being able to open until 2021, the team were recruited and training began. From weekly Teams meetings and Zoom quizzes to CPL compliance development, Ben worked closely with his team to ensure they were confident, prepared and ready for their new challenge.
