Our Story

Fine and Country Inns operates prestigious hospitality venues across Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The venues nestle in picturesque villages serving locally sourced produce with exceptional service in comfortable and luxurious surroundings. Our award winning venues are at the heart of their local communities and our dedicated teams endeavour to ensure that the customer experience is forever paramount and we offer a warm welcome to our ever increasing list of  loyal customers. We are currently developing a pipeline of new freehold and leasehold venues which will take the group to the next level on its amazing journey.

Gary Hunt
Chairman & CEO

After dedicating over two decades to the late-night leisure industry creating and operating award-winning venues across the North of England, Gary founded Fine & Country Inns with the development of The Strafford Arms in the grounds of the historic Wentworth Castle in Stainborough Yorkshire.


Fast forward eight years and Fine & Country Inns has become one of the most respected and successful operators in the region. Gary continues to be the driving force behind the ongoing growth of the company accompanied by his incredibly loyal Head Office Management and a fantastic 150 strong operations team.


Gary enjoys spending time with his family, sunshine holidays, Formula 1 motor racing and sampling Provence Rose wine whenever possible!


Whilst studying at Sheffield Hallam University, Ash first met Gary whilst working part time at one of his award winning nightclubs. After graduating, Ash joined Gary full time and assisted him to launch Fine & Country Inns.


Following an incredibly successful first three years Ash took on the role of Group Operations Director. Using his extensive knowledge from his degree and his operational experience in the hospitality sector, Ash has been strategic in implementing efficient operating systems and controls to give the group the essential tools and insights needed to expand.


Ash enjoys spending time with his family and taking his young son to football. He has a Dachshund named Baxter who likes digging up the garden!

Ben Hunt
Training Manager


Ben started his journey at Fine & Country Inns as Assistant Manager of The Parish Oven in the beautiful village of Thorpe Salvin.


Since then, Ben has supported the Head Office team to launch The Rose & Crown in Barlborough. This led to Bens progression to take on the role of Group Training Manager.


He will now assist the group to establish new businesses and train all staff into all Fine & Country Inns systems and procedures.

Ben is well known for both his sarcastic humour and his incredible, gluten free chocolate brownie recipe!


Stevie Hart
Head of Sales & Marketing

Stevie heads up Group Sales, Marketing and PR. She has extensive industry experience in social media and oversees all customer communications. Stevie is also Head of Creation and is in charge of all group imagery and more importantly our famous themed afternoon teas.


She has a strong background in Event Management and has been instrumental in developing our wedding and special occasion business.


Stevie's "Happy Place" is the seaside, and in her opinion nothing quite beats a walk on the sand… However, being a mad Harry Potter fan she spends most of the time dreaming that she actually lives at Hogwarts castle!

Sarah Thompson
Finance Manager

Sarah operates in the nerve centre of the business. With her extensive experience and qualifications in corporate accounting practice, she manages all financial matters including management accounts, VAT, tax, payroll, invoices  and all supplier payments.


As the person who processes payroll Sarah is obviously very popular with our team, however she is more popular as she hosts the groups’ sweet & chocolate stash.


Sarah is the "mum" of the office and is often known to spend her spare time in the sweet shop and making sure we have an unlimited amount of teabags!


Eden Turner
Office Administrator


Eden is our office administrator and keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.


From stock takes to till updates, team on-boarding to birthday celebrations, Eden is on hand to help with all administrative tasks.


As with many of our team, Eden started her journey with us as an Assistant Manager and due to her hard work, dedication and phenomenal organisation skills she become a valuable member of the FCIG team.


Outside work Eden loves spending time with her young son, venturing out on adventure days and snuggling up with him to watch Paw Patrol!
